So you forgot your password. Oops. It happens to the best of us. Please follow the steps below.


Configure and Verify Account Recovery Information:

Starting September 2022, when you login to either MyCourses or MyBlueRidge, you will be prompted at least one time to enter Microsoft account recovery information. We strongly advise everyone to provide and verify at least two account recovery options. Once you have provided and verified account recovery options, you will be able to easily recover from a forgotten password at any time without the need to wait for an IT support staff member to assist you.

If you need to change your account recovery options:

  1. Go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/
  2. Click on Security Info
  3. Add sign-in method and be sure to verify each method at the time you add it 



If you have not completed the account recovery process, then you must either follow the "First Time Login Instructions (Students)" or First Time Login Instructions (Employees) or contact the BRCC IT Help Desk at (828) 694-1895 or stop by in person at TEDC 117, TRCS 121, HSCB 3131, or Patton 154. IT staff will need to verify your identity before assisting you with a password change and we can not take action on account recovery requests made via email.


How to recover from a Forgotten Password (you must have already enrolled in Microsoft account recovery process described above)


1. You must have already enrolled in the Microsoft password self-service system by providing at least one account recovery method. Account recovery methods include:

  • A phone number where the benevolent Microsoft robot can call you
  • A phone number where you can receive a text message
  • An alternative, personal (NOT BRCC) email address where you can be reached
  • Installing an app on your phone such as Microsoft Authenticator 


2. Use your favorite web browser and go to either MyCourses or MyBlueRidge


3. Click on the "Can't access your account" or "Forgot Password" link right on the login page



4. Select "Work/School account"


5. Select the account recovery method and follow the instructions


Note: If you are a current employee, the process described above will allow you to update your password for all BRCC systems *except* your @blueridge.edu email account. You will need to contact the IT Help Desk at (828) 694-1895 for assistance with accessing your @blueridge.edu Google account.
