If you have NOT already enrolled in the Microsoft Account Recovery Process, you will be prompted to do so the first time you log into myBlueridge



Please review these Password Complexity Requirements and Tips on Creating Secure and Memorable Passwords


 

New Employee - Set your initial permanent password while off-campus

 

  1. Locate the welcome letter sent to the personal email address you provided to Human Resources when you were hired. In the email, find your username and temporary password.
    • NOTE: The temporary password will require your employee ID number. If you do not know your employee ID, please contact your supervisor or Human Resources. The helpdesk cannot provide this information
  2. Open your favorite web browser and go to myaccount.microsoft.com
  3. Enter your Blue Ridge email address. This will be yourusername@blueridge.edu
  4. Enter the temporary password.
  5. When prompted, complete the Microsoft Account Recovery Process. 
  6. Set a new password.
  7. Set your email password.
    1. Log into Google with your @blueridge.edu account and change the password to match what you just set.
  8. This is now your Blueridge account password that will be used for our systems here at the college. 

 

Current employee - (PC user) Change your password while on campus

 

  1. Using your assigned BRCC computer or any BRCC computer on any of our campuses.
  2. Log onto the computer using your username and current password.
  3. After your profile loads Press CTRL+ALT+DEL.
  4. Click the button labeled Change Password.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to update your password.


(If your password does not automatically sync to your Google account)

1. Log into Google, click on your profile icon in the upper right corner of the page and select the "Manage Account" option

2. Under the "Security" tab select the password option and enter your new password.

 

Current employee - Change your password while off campus

 

  1. Open your favorite web browser and go to myaccount.microsoft.com
  2. Log in with your credentials, and select change password.
  3. Follow the instructions to update your password
  4. Once you finished changing your password in Microsoft
  5. Log into Google with your @blueridge.edu email address and previous password
  6. Click on your profile icon in the upper right corner, select "Manage my Account" and follow the instructions to change your Google password to match what you just set in Microsoft.


Note: It's easier to change your password while on campus because your new password will automatically sync to both Microsoft and Google.


Current employee - (Mac user) Change your password while on campus

 

  1. Click on the Key Icon located in the Menulets or the upper-right portion of the bar at the top of your screen.
  2. Select "Change Password."
  3. You'll be asked to enter the following passwords:
          Your old (current) password.
          Your new password, which must meet the following criteria:
              At least 14 characters long.
              Include at least one capital letter.
              Include at least one number.
              Include one special character (e.g., *&%).

              Confirm your new password by entering it again.
  4. Click on the "Change Password" button.

       Your Mac and Active Directory @blueridge.edu passwords are now synchronized.


  5. Next, log into Google using your @blueridge.edu account with your old password.
  6. Change your Google account password to match the new password you just created.

    By following these steps, your passwords will be updated and synchronized between your Mac, Active Directory @blueridge.edu, and Google accounts. Remember to use strong passwords to enhance the security of your accounts.

IT staff will only reset your password on your behalf if you are unable to use the normal "forgot password" self service system at https://myaccount.microsoft.com and if we can verify your identity. IT staff will never reset a password based on an email or other unverified request.
