When you log in to either myCourses or myBlueRidge, you will be prompted to enter Microsoft account recovery information.
After clicking “Next” on the screen above, you will be redirected to the MFA configuration page. Setting up the Microsoft Authenticator App is the default option on this page.
Install the Microsoft Authenticator App:
- On your mobile device, open the App Store (for iPhone) or Google Play (for Android).
- Search for "Microsoft Authenticator" and download the app. It may not be the first one listed so be sure you are picking the correct one.
- It should have this icon:
- Once installed, open the app.
Set up your account
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator App.
- Click "Add account."
Choose "Work or school account."
Select "Scan QR Code."
Back on your laptop or desktop, click “Next” on the “Set up your account” screen.

After scanning the code, the view of your camera will disappear in the Microsoft Authenticator App.
Click “Next” under the QR code displayed on your computer screen.
Under the “Let’s Try it out” page on your computer.
Look at the code on your phone on the page that says "Are you trying to sign in?"
Add the code and click yes
On your computer click Next
Click Next on the “Microsoft Authenticator” after your notification has been approved.
A success page will display, confirming that your Microsoft Authenticator setup is complete.
