Summary of AV Technology in Patton Workforce Development Boardroom:
- Do not use the power control buttons on the TV's themselves. The TV's are controlled via a small touch panel control mounted on the control station desk towards the back of the room
- Three 75" wall mounted displays
- The TV mounted between the control station and the main entrance is a touch screen TV
- Sound amplification - microphones located on main table and podium with ceiling mounted speakers
- Poly x70 - Video Conference System
How to Present from a Computer to TV's:
Touch the white “Extron” control panel that is located on top of the computer at the control station. The TV's and Audio can ONLY be controlled using this touch panel.
Do NOT use the power button on the TV's - only use the touch screen to control the TV's as outlined below
-
On the Extron control panel:
If after touching the control panel you do not see the Blue Ridge Community College logo wave your hand in front of the touch screen to wake the system up or touch it again.
Once you see the Blue Ridge Community College logo, touch the logo to power on the system you will hear a click when doing this.
When the system powers on, each TV should display the Blue Ridge Community College logo indicating the system is ready for use.
If any of the 3 TVs are not on touch the "display control" button along the left hand menu. This brings you to the Display control menu where you can turn the TVs on or off by pushing the corresponding TV buttons.
Click close to return to the main menu.
Touch the desired video source from the options along the top of the screen
Control HDMI = the desktop computer at the table in the back of the room^
Podium = standing podium at front of room (can be used by guests with their own laptop^^)
Table 1 = front of table closest to the glass door entry (can be used by guests with their own laptop^^)
Table 2 = back of the table closest to wooden exit door (can be used by guests with their own laptop^^)
Rack input = will only display preprogrammed Blue Ridge View digital signage system content
^ If you need to present content from your own laptop at the control station, you can unplug the HDMI cable from the desktop and plug that cable into your laptop. Please be sure to plug the cable back into the desktop when you are done.
^^ To present content from your own device, your device will need to have an HDMI out plug or you will need to have an appropriate adaptor to connect your device to the HDMI cable. If you do not have an HDMI output on your device, you are welcome to use the control station desktop computer.
6. Touch the white box under each TV you wish to present to (most presenters will select all three)
7. Optional: You can select different sources to present to each TV by repeating steps 2 and 3 above using a different source and TV combination
4. On the computer you are presenting from, choose whether to duplicate or extend your device’s primary display
On the desktop computer, or any other Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 computer: hold the Windows logo key and press “P”
Select “Duplicate” = to duplicate content that is on the computers local screen to each of the selected TV's
Select "Extend" = to make TV's appear as an additional monitor - works well with Microsoft PowerPoint "Presenter Mode". This also allows you to keep content on your computer's monitor hidden while allowing you to "slide" Windows over to the additional TV
5. When you are done using the system, please use the Extron touch screen and select “System Off” - this will graceful power off all TV's and save energy
How to Login to Control Station Desktop Computer:
- Power on the computer and desktop monitor - please do not press the power button on any wall-mounted TV's
-
Login:
- Username = student
- Password = learn
Sound Amplification:
The room has multiple microphones located at various positions on the boardroom table and on the podium. The microphone system is generally always online although you might need to push the button on the top of the microphone to toggle mute mode. If there is excessive audio or feedback from any microphone, press the mute button on top to mute the microphone.
To adjust the audio amplification level (rarely needed):
- Go to the touch panel at the control station towards the back of the room
- Wave your hand close to the screen to wake it up if the screen is blank
- Select the Audio button located on the right of the main menu screen.
- You will see it on the right with the up and down arrows along with the third button either labeled with a blue colored 'mute" (Meaning the audio is not muted) or a yellow highlighted "muted" (Audio is muted) depending on the status of the audio.
- Use up and down arrows to adjust volume.
- If no sound is coming from the selected source and you have confirmed that the source is not muted then look at the third button down on the right of the main screen under the word Audio and see if it is highlighted yellow with the word "muted" in it or if it is blue with the word "mute" You can change the mute option by pushing on the mute/muted button to change the setting.
Note: There is no way to individually adjust the volume of a single microphone

How to Use Touchscreen TV:
- The TV that is mounted on the wall between the control station and the glass main entrance doors is a touch screen TV
- The touch screen TV can be operated in two ways:
- As a standalone whiteboard - no computer connection needed
- As a touchscreen interface to a desktop or laptop computer**
- ** We highly recommend using the control station desktop computer for touchscreen and not attempting to use the touchscreen TV on your own laptop
- ** In order to use the TV as a touchscreen interface to your laptop, you will need to connect a USB cable between your TV and computer and install SMART technologies software.
