Troubleshooting Tips

The following situations are uncommon, but can be resolved using the instructions outlined below.

Program has separate course requirement lists based on a pathway, concentration, or other specialization chosen by the student

Solution: Use Number Of for the Rule Condition

How To

  1. Create a new rule in the desired requirement
  2. Select Number Of in the Rule Condition box
  3. Give the rule an appropriate name, such as "Concentration Requirements"
  4. Enter 1 into the At Least _ of the Following box
  5. Click + Add Sub Rule
  6. Fill out the rule with the pathway requirements
  7. Name the rule with the name of the pathway
  8. Repeat steps 5-6 for each concentration/pathway

Example of Correctly Entered Rule

Requirement rule has an additional limitation beyond quantity

Solution: Enter the limitation(s) as plain text in the Rule Notes field

How To

  1. Create a rule containing all of the course information using the standard practice
  2. Type the limitation into the Rule Notes field, eg. "(You must select from 2 different discipline areas)"

Example of Correctly Entered Rule

Program with sections that don't match the provided requirement level headers

Solution: Give the requirement a name that does not match the requirement level.

How To

  1. Assign a requirement to the closest matching requirement level
  2. Instead of matching the requirement name to the requirement level, enter the desired header name into the requirement name box

Notes

  • This is an exception to the normal process
  • Use whatever header that you would in the state definitions
  • The requirements will be displayed in the catalog in the same order listed in the Requirements section

Example of Correctly Entered Requirement

Program has a non-course requirement

Solution: Use Freeform Text for the Rule Condition

This should NOT be used for new courses that need to be entered into the catalog. In that case, faculty should instead submit a request to add a course. This option is only for items that would never be listed in the course catalog, such as the in the example below.

How To

  1. Choose Freeform Text in the Rule Condition box
  2. Enter the requirement as plain text
  3. Name the rule
