Faculty can easily use their BRCC-issued laptop to wirelessly present to the SmartBoard Touch Screen TV's. Wirelessly presenting to the TV will relay video and audio to the TV. In addition, the TV's touch screen functionality will also work. Please be advised that presenting to the TV wirelessly could result in poor quality or choppy video output due to the nature of wirelessly technology. Therefore, your IT department recommends using a wired connection rather than wireless where possible for the best quality and reliability.

Note: The Smart Mirror App is automatically installed on all BRCC employee laptops. This software might periodically prompt you to install updates. Please do NOT let the Smart Mirror App update itself - instead chose "remind me later" or "skip". IT staff will automatically deploy updates to your computer when you computer is plugged into the network or a docking station.

  2. On the SmartBoard TV, go to the Home Screen and touch the Screen Share icon
  3. Once you open the "Screen Cast" feature, a "Session ID" number will be displayed on screen
  4. Open the "Smart Mirror App" on your computer. Type "Smart" into the search box next to the Start Button and click the Smart Mirror App
  5. In the "Smart Mirror App" on your computer, enter the "Session ID" number displayed on screen and optionally enter your name
  6. Once connected, click the "Share My Screen" button on your laptop
  7. If prompted to chose resolution, we recommend using the 1080p high resolution option and clicking the box to make high resolution the default.
  8. Once you are done with your screen share, you can go back to the Home Screen on the TV and touch the Screen Share icon. Select the session and click "Disconnect"

How to Present Wirelessly for Guests, Mac OS Users and Smart Phone Users:

Due to compatibility and security considerations, anyone not using a BRCC-issued, Windows-based laptop will need to contact IT (828-694-1895) or Media Services (828-674-3206) for assistance. Please try to notify IT or Media services in advance of your planned use of wireless streaming.

Guests, Mac OS, and Smart Phone Users will need to download and install the Smart Mirror App by SmartTech:

Depending on the configuration of your computer, the installation might require computer "Administrator" permissions.
