If you have NOT already enrolled in the Microsoft Account Recovery Process, you will be prompted to do so the first time you log into myBlueridge


  

Your hiring department supervisor, administrative team member, or Human Resources Department staff will provide you with your Blue Ridge Account username and your employee ID number. Your initial password was emailed to you as part of the IT welcome letter. 

 

New Employee - Set your initial permanent password while you are on campus

 

  1. Go to your assigned BRCC computer or any BRCC computer on any of our campuses.
  2. Log onto the computer using the username provided to you by your hiring supervisor.
  3. Use the initial account password provided in your welcome letter. 
  4. After your profile loads Press CTRL+ALT+DEL.
  5. Click the button labeled Change Password.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to update your password. This is now your password for your Blueridge account.
  7. Using your new username and password log into myBlueridge and complete the Microsoft Account Recovery process.

 

New Employee - Set your initial permanent password while off campus

 

  1. Open your favorite web browser and go to myaccount.microsoft.com
  2. Use the username provided by your hiring supervisor.
  3. Use the account's initial password provided in your welcome letter.
  4. Click change password
  5. This is now your Blueridge account password that will be used for our systems here at the college.
  6. Using your new username and password log into myBlueridge and complete the Microsoft Account Recovery process.
  7. Log into Google with your @blueridge.edu account and change the password to match what you just set.
  8. Once all steps are complete your password should match in all systems.

     

 

Current employee - (PC user) Change your password while on campus

 

  1. Go to your assigned BRCC computer or any BRCC computer on any of our campuses.
  2. Log onto the computer using your username and password.
  3. After your profile loads Press CTRL+ALT+DEL.
  4. Click the button labeled Change Password.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to update your password.

(In instances where your password does not sync to your Gmail account)

1. Log into Google and select the "Manage Account" option

2. Under the "Security" tab select the password option and enter your new password.

 

Current employee - (Mac user) Change your password while on campus

 

  1. Click on the Key Icon located in the Menulets or the upper-right portion of the bar at the top of your screen.
  2. Select "Change Password."
  3. You'll be asked to enter the following passwords:
          Your old (current) password.
          Your new password, which must meet the following criteria:
              At least 12 characters long.
              Include at least one capital letter.
              Include at least one number.
              Include one special character (e.g., *&%).

              Confirm your new password by entering it again.
  4. Click on the "Change Password" button.

       Your Mac and Active Directory @blueridge.edu passwords are now synchronized.


  5. Next, log into Google using your @blueridge.edu account with your old password.
  6. Change your Google account password to match the new password you just created.

    By following these steps, your passwords will be updated and synchronized between your Mac, Active Directory @blueridge.edu, and Google accounts. Remember to use strong passwords to enhance the security of your accounts.

 

Current employee - Change your password while off campus

 

  1. Open your favorite web browser and go to myaccount.microsoft.com
  2. Log in with your credentials, and select change password.
  3. Log into Google with your @blueridge.edu account and change the password to match what you just set.

 


Password complexity requirements


  

·         Your new password cannot contain your username.

·         Your new password cannot be the same as your current or previous 8 passwords.

·         MUST meet these requirements:

·         12 characters or more.

·         UPPERCASE LETTER

·         lowercase letter

·         Number

·         !, $, #, % or any non alphabetic character

·         NOTE: DO NOT USE the following special characters: space, tab,? @ ; : < > & = _


  

Tips to Create a Secure and Memorable Password

 

Your new password will take effect within 5 minutes on all the following BRCC systems:
 
  

·         The Insider (Sharepoint)

·         Papercut and Sharp copiers

·         MyCourses

·         Informer

·         WebAdvisor

·         Colleague

·         MyBlueRidge

·         Logging into your BRCC computer

·         and almost everything else!

 

If you are unable to reset your password, please call our IT Help Desk at 828-694-1895 and we will be happy to help over the phone.

 

IT staff will only assist with a password reset if we can verify your identity in person or over the phone. We will not reset your password based on an email request alone.
