Microsoft Authenticator: Setting Up MFA
Before You Start
We recommend using a computer while setting up Microsoft Authenticator.
If you try to complete the entire setup on your phone, the QR code may appear on the same phone you need to use to scan it. Using a computer makes the setup much easier.
If You Have a New Phone
If you already used Microsoft Authenticator and have a new phone, follow these instructions first:

Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator is the recommended way to verify your Blue Ridge account when you sign in.
The free app works on Apple and Android phones.
Start the Setup
If Microsoft asks you to set up Microsoft Authenticator when you sign in, select Next and follow the prompts.
If you are not prompted:
- On a computer, go to myaccount.microsoft.com and sign in with your Blue Ridge account.
- Select Security info.
- Select + Add sign-in method.
- Choose Microsoft Authenticator.
- Select Next.
Install Microsoft Authenticator
On your phone:
- Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
- Search for Microsoft Authenticator.
- Install the app from Microsoft.
- Open the app.
Connect Your Account
On your phone:
- Open Microsoft Authenticator.
- Select Add account.
- Select Work or school account.
- Select Scan QR code.
On your computer:
- Select Next until a QR code appears.
On your phone:
- Scan the QR code shown on your computer.
On your computer:
- Select Next.
- A two-digit number will appear on the screen.
On your phone:
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator notification. If you do not see a notification, open the Authenticator app.
- Enter the two-digit number shown on your computer.
- Select Yes to approve the sign-in.
On your computer:
- Select Next after the notification is approved.
- Microsoft will confirm that Microsoft Authenticator was set up successfully.
